I bought both my daughters gloves/mittens with string on when they were toddlers back in the late 80's
I remember buying them for my daughter and she was born in 92.
Hmm we called them idiot strings!! WE were such angels.
It's very simple to make your own.
crochet a one stitch length of wool, long enought o reach down both arms of the childs coat and reach across the back, then attach each end to a glove or mitten, and thread through the coat sleeves.

Can you not do crocheting or sewing?

I remember those, somebody would grab one glove and give it a sharp pull and you'd punch yourself in the face with the other hand!!!

Anyhow

I can't remember string, but I do remember sewing on elastic and threading them through the sleeves. lol

And red wellies that they would't take off, that we had to remove when they were asleep
I think kids can get away with string gloves but not an adult!! LOL
Question Author
I think I may have to go for the elastic as dont know how big her coat might be. Unless anyone can find me novelty adult ones. chuck I think those are for ski gloves that have a little hook on them
Question Author
sally how do you know. I think I may bring them back into fashion. They have earmuffs everywhere now
LOL - please upload a pic of your friend in her elastic gloves - am sitting here giggling - sorry!! lmao
