Why do people not google for certain answers, instead of asking them here and then getting people to google for them? Not all the time, but there are some obvious cases. Many obvious cases.

Know what you mean abfandango, but then again I've learn't heaps in googling for others, and I feel if they've asked a question on answerbank they get answer (even if it's tinged with sarcasm)
Because this is a Q&A site, perhaps? I'm with graemer on this - I google on behalf of others because I like finding things out for myself. If I'm not interested in the question, I don't. If I just don't feel like doing someone else's thinking for them, I don't. And Google doesn't answer everything... which would be why abfandango had to post this question instead of googling it.

LOL nice answers.

I think there's more to an answer than just what google may throw up, and hearing different perspectives is nice. But some questions...like, you could just type it in google and the answer will stare you in the face, but the person seems to ask it here instead of doing just that. Not to mention the homework answers. Are we going to raise a nation of people unable to Google? I don't think that's what this country was founded on..

I quite enjoy Googling - when I get the time!
It works both ways. Sometimes people ask questionns which they could have answered with a litte research of their own. Sometimes people ask questions that would warrant an answer based on a bit of experience of life and just get referred to another website.
I get the impressiom that some (not many, only a few) ABers really enjoy researching and answering questions, shows the rest of us how clever they are.

Now, now, not that sort of Googling I.A.P.! :0)

There have been occasions when I google to check facts before answering a question only to discover that my original thought was completely wrong.
Keep the 'simple' questions coming, I say.
I think Googling is gonna become a proper verb soon. To Google!
Google have done an April Fool today - can you spot it?
I've been looking galltin - but can't find it - so come on what is it?

I'll let you know smudge, just as soon as I have a spare Google Gulp cap.

Yes smudge , Louis got it right, Google Gulp!
I did actually see the Google Gulp thingy - but thought there might have been another April Fool joke apart from that one! Thank you anyway folks!

Its possible to get certain answers from googling, but people probably want to ask questions on AB because its usual to get various percepectives on things.

that should be useful not usual.
