Is it time to get rid of the report buttons?

Just read potatomans question and this idea came to me.
Instead of report buttons if you want to report a question or answer you would have to email the AB ED with your reason, this would cut down mindless reporting instead of report this question or answer you could have email send button press it and a link opens to the ED ,when you have sent the email the question or answer would show email sent so the ED would only get one email per report.

Your suggestion already happens in a way, because once the report button is used, the option then disappears.
Well that's how it used to work, not used it in ages so it may have changed by now.

Lindy Loo pleased you are sensible when using the report buttons but it�s a fact others are not and abuse the system. What I am trying to say is that if we have to email to report any unsuitable question or answer it is less likely people will report questions or answers for no reason just very annoying to see good questions disappear and cause frustration as we have seen with Octavius question under the heading of Bans, Now my question about bans has been banned .What the truck is going on?  There are at least 9 questions to do with banning on the suggestions category.

and when you press the report button a picture of a very angry editor appears with the words go ahead waste my time make my day.lol

To be honest I think that whatever system is in place, there will always be someone who uses it just for the fun of it. Some people are just very immature and delight in upsetting others, as has been seen in other matters on the site.

These people should just 'naff off and find another playground to use!!
