GRAVATAR ARE DODGY

I recently joined a forum and startlingly an image of mine appeared there that I hadn't uploaded, I was baffled and so were the admins of the forum for a while.

It turned that it came from Gravatar and fair enough, I hadn't taken the time to read the smallprint and learn that Gravatar make your images available to any Gravatar enabled site you may join in the future - with or without your consent (which you may have unwittingly made when you joined the site).

*BUT* it was a previously deleted image, I had deleted it long ago !
So I deleted ALL of the images that resided in my Gravatar account and set my profile to "hidden" as Gravatar refuse to delete accounts and that's the best they can offer.

The image still appears on that forum and Gravatar (so far) have refused to answer my complaints.

I can see everyone's avatar, whether it's banned or not. So thanks AP. You will forever be associated.

As to the "issue" - it's actually a feature? It allows you to bring together profiles across different blogs, it's meant to be handy I think.

In all fairness, I think it does tell you on Gravatar that the pic will be seen on all forums with it enabled. It must be pretty clear too as I remember reading it and I NEVER read small print.

That's true Boo (trubu?) but what it DOESN'T say is that they secretly archive images that you have removed and that is my point; an image that I had *deleted long ago from my Gravatar account* showed up on the forum.
The only image that is now in my (un-closable) Gravatar account is the Goatse.
