At the moment our Ed has eight personal 'Stickies' in his 'Blog Section'.
In view therefore of the fact that new members to AB often put their first question into 'Suggestions', perhaps our Ed should have permanent 'stickies' atop both sections; explaining to all, the purposes for which the sections are intended.
Um mmm ...I agree, it does happen that newbies post by accident but,as has been intimated by pasta, even established members wrongly use the 'Suggestions' section. In fact I think it has even become a re-entry section for Banned members who are trying to re-enter as if complete innocents of AB's workings.
Bobbi....I am not really bothered about stickies but they are the first items which are seen in a 'Topic' and as a 'rule' would be the first thing to be read before scrolling down the list of questions.
Not everybody reads the 'stickies' tho Ron. Sometimes folk will register and post a question which due to the ergonomics of the ether end up in a different category.
Also if someone was to post a question about a car in a TV prog, should it go in Motoring or TV?
I agree alba, it's not always easy to decide the best section into which to place a question. However, as 'suggestions' is meant to convey thoughts to the ED, I think joko has come-up with a good idea......"they should rename it as suggestion for the Ed, or something".
Ed - you need to put in somewhere else, it's very easy NOT to see that notice, it needs to be e.g. in the box where you are about to type your Q (so we could overtype it). On my screen your message has a weight loss advert underneath it - I nearly missed your message altogether.
I see it - no Ed, those of us who see adverts and just ignore them won't look there (it's too closely followed by Sheila's Wheels at the moment). It needs to be IN the box. What do others think?
Thanks Ed...We are moving in the right direction but, like boxtops, I don't want a 'Welcome to Suggestions' appearing as a part of some firm's advert. At the moment 'Emission Trading' is printed in red and completely distracts from your welcome message.
Incidentally boxtops, in my OP I was referring to the high number of stickies which the Ed has in his 'Blog'.
Thanks all for having posted in this thread......Ron.
if posting a question from the homepage the user is asked to pick a category for the question. That is probably the reason that some questions end up in suggestions.
