I asked a question about tax laws in Guernsey, and someone gave me a very informative answer, which I want to tell my students, as we were discussing it.

However, there is NO way to select/cut/paste the answer so I can copy it onto Word and print it out to take to work with me.

WHY is that?

Scarlett can you not save the web page to another device i.e. My documents and then copy and paste the text?
read this a while back - single-click will highlight word, double-click will highlight sentence (or paragraph). Highlight and cntrl>c untill you get it all.

Far easier to download Mozilla Firefox - free - as that allows you to highlight and copy entire answers with no problems. I use it here on AnswerBank often. Click http://google-download.com.com/Mozilla-Firefox/3000-2356_4-10208565.html?tag=google for the appropriate web-page.

Hello!

I did try that and all I got was 2 tiny google ads at the top... It's a mystery to me why i can't print, save or paste any of it!!

If you do as QM suggested, use Mozilla and you can cut and paste to yir heart's content.

This is my way Scarlett as I can't use Mozilla for various reasons. It's easy and fast, and I use this method for other websites as well.

Select Mail, then select Send Page.

Send the page to yourself - then Copy and Paste whatever you need.

Good idea Cetti- but I don't have the "send page" option on Aol!!
Do you have the Send Link  option.......or even send anything ;-)
Question Author
Well if I send a link to the page in an email, it will just open up the page when you click on it. I won't be able to highlight/cut bits!
Put my last suggestion down to a very Senior Moment......!
Scarlett, are you sure you can't email a web page via the menu line just below the blue header? The sequence is Tools / Mail and News (top line)  / Send page (fourth line).  I don't see that who your ISP is should affect that.

On AOL you have file edit email community services safety, window, keyword sign off  and Help.

Then below that Read, write, IM, people, Safety, Settings, Music, money.... AOL seems to be completely different to everyone else's main page!!

Just a thought (because I don't like to be beaten) - you could click Help / Index, then type in "sending Web pages" and see if you get any joy.   If not, follow QM's suggestion and download Mozilla. Firefox.

I clicked on the Firefox link and it was about to install, but I have chickened out, as it said I ought to close Windows.....etc..etc.. I was scared as I'm quite new to my own PC at home.  I feel I won't be able to 'get back'.  Anyway how long does all that take (me being slow and nail-biting about it)?  I might as well write my answers down in longhand.  I'll try again when I feel braver and have two or three hours to spare!

Dear Users,

Thank you for your query and the responses it has generated. To recap, people who use Internet Explorer find that they cannot cut and paste in a useful manner, which is not a problem with other browsers such as Firefox. Unfortunately, as the heavies in IT have explained, this is an MS issue and we can only hope that it is resolved soon.
