Would it be possible to re-arrange the topics so that if a particular top-level subject in bold has sub-topics then, when you click on it those sub-topics are displayed?
At present if, for example, one clicks on "Quizzes and Puzzles" one is taken directly to the questions in "Quizzes and Puzzles". If you want to get to the sub-topics you have to scroll down the screen again to find them. This makes these sub-topics very easy to miss, or ignore.

If you click on 'Topics' at the top...*all* topics become visible.
...or do you want the bold topic with its sub-topics to appear at the top of the listing?

Meant to add the above to my original answer.....
It would be better if the topic list would stay expanded once you click it, at the moment it goes back to the hidden sub topic default whenever you click a category or post.
I don't understand the Q - if you click on the topic, the others fall down underneath it. I do agree though - I'd rather see them all at once, all the time. Not being able to see them leads to people not knowing they are there, and posting in wrong topics.

Thanks for the tip about clicking on "Topics". It might be better if the tool tip said "click to expand topics" or similar - or perhaps actually said so on the screen rather than just a tool tip. The way the topics are listed at the moment seems a bit ilogical - the bold "header" topic" really should either be a title only, or else perhaps called something different. I think the issue for me is that most of the topics I'm interested in are listed alphabetically near the bottom of the screen: when you click the top level you can't see the sub-topics that are expanded as the list is re-displayed from the top.
And, as observed, the expanded list "unexpands" as soon as you hit a header topic.
You can't see them all straight away, true, but you just have to scroll the page down and they are all there.

The point is, though, that not only do you not see them, but you DO see a list of questions related to the "header" topic".
It must be possible, surely, to have them remain visible. Otherwise they will be "lost" I would suggest, to a large percentage of members.
i have suggested before that if one clicks on a main topic then it should only display a summary of the subtopics' questions but no-one seemed interested in changing the way it currently works

A shame. To be honest, if it was up to me, I would do away with the sub-topics and just have a single-level listing.

Ichkeria, the way round it (and the way I meant) is to click on the word "Topics", not on the Topic headings themselves - that way, the list all falls down, without taking you from the page you're currently on.
that should be more widely advertised, boxtops. Instead of just Topics it should say "click here to see all topics" or something like that. How would anyone ever guess?
Indeed - trial and error, jno.
Absolutely - I didn't know that until now :)

Yes I realised that is what you meant, but I wonder how many people realise tht option is available.
And, as also previosuly pointed out, while useful, it doesn't actualy solve the problem
personally, I think all topics should be on permanent display. As they're not, you wouldn't even know there was a Jokes section, or Current Affairs (how that's different from News I don't know) or Genealogy. The notion of hidden subtopics all seems a bit odd.
It would be better if you clicked 'Topics' and all sub categories remained visible until you clicked it again instead of it automatically reverting back to main categories only.
I never knew the thing about clicking on topics. You learn something new every day. :)
