Ann Packer 1964 Olympics

I'm not a great follower of sport but clearly recall the many repeats of the film of Ann Packer winning the 800m in the Tokyo Olympics 1964. Before she unexpectedly made a final effort from behind, commentator David Coleman said "Packer's out of it".
Yet every time this film had been shown in recent years these words and that part of the film have been omitted. I suspect censorship - maybe to save Coleman's reputation. Does anyone agree?

Quite possibly.................I also remember when Hemery won the 400m hurdles and Coleman was screaming "No-one else matter" which was not very nice considering our other chap won the bronze.

Quite possibly. I remember in 1968 Mexico olympics DC was commentating on the 400m Hurdles. As David Hemery crossed the line he said something along the lines of " Its Hemery first for Britain, Henniqe second for Germany and in third...oh, who cares who's third!". It just happened to be John Sherwood, another Brit!!
