AB ED is it time you suspended the report buttons to stop this madness?

I don't have a problem with chat being removed from the site; it's not a chatroom. But some stuff, often from a small number of posters (some of them impostors), is just offensive. I've only reported one posting - not saying which one, but it was insulting and sexually explicit and I did feel strongly it shouldn't appear on the site. Others may feel the same about some of my own postings; if so they should have some way of doing something about it. My only suggestion is that if robots automatically remove reported posts, some human should double-check to make sure that banning really was appropriate. For all I know, of course, this is already the case. Meantime, no, keep the report buttons.

I seem to recall that the report facility was brought in at the request of some of the users of this site.

To remove them now would be creating more work for ABank. I agree with jno.

Agreed hung6 but we still have a problem. I think my suggestion would work as a temporary measure it would also help if the EDITOR issued a warning on misuse of report buttons.

Is it the ed or is it a group of people say 3or4 who press the report buttons and whooosh the answers gone!!

Then again rod, ED has issued many warnings about chatty threads and the like but they still continue.

If that�s true Vinny the EDITOR has a problem as hung6 has said you can report and remove obscene Q&As and as this is a family site that�s important another option is if a question is reported it is only temporarily removed the EDITOR can then restore the question without a report button for that question so it cant be reported again.

Before I went out this morning, I tried to post, but gave up trying! Let's see if this works this time!
