Microsoft Outlook Contacts and Word

When I use Microsoft Outlook Contacts and I want to type info in the large text box, it always types as double line spacing. This also happens when I open a new document in Word. I have been down the usual route of format, paragraph, line spacing - which displays single line spacing, but it's not single line. Is there any way I can overcome this please?

I don't know about Outlook but, in order to change the default settings in Word, you need to edit the template it uses for a new document.
