No luck with Qs on some Topic Categories?

I posted a question on the Body& Soul topic but I only got one playfully facetious reply.  My upper arms' recent increase in girth is not actually worrying me to death but I would like to do something about it if possible, and want to hear how other mature ladies deal with this problem, which seems inevitable.  My question was had anyone heard of people having liposuction in that area? So I'm trying this Topic  with the same question.  I note from previous questions/threads on Body&Soul  that there is little hope by conventional excercising.  Sleeveless tops are out for me unless I do something.  I'm not that keen on exercise but would do something that really works.  In other places I am slim so it is more noticeable when I sport bare arms.  What happens to us and why!?

Are you talking about 'batwing' arms that happens to us ladies of a certain age? If so, I've never heard of anyone having liposuction on them. I saw a mag. article about a woman who had surgery to have hers reduced. The op. worked a treat, but she was left with a 10" scar on each arm which was very noticeable. I'm very slim but I have batwings. I had 2 exercises recommended, one involving using stairs and one using weights, and neither worked. I try and keep the front of my arms (biceps) and my shoulders toned using weights, hoping it will distract the eye away from the flappy bits underneath. I don't worry about it too much - none of us are perfect.

I know thickasabrik but I had hopes of doing something before it is too late.  I should be thankful I have two arms and they work OK  My 'batwings' aren't so bad yet, its the outer part  that faces the world.  It looks so wide this year!
They're probably not as bad as you imagine - we can see our worst bits as a bigger problem than they actually are. How about asking a good friend for an honest opinion? I bet you'd be surprised. (Mind you, I made the mistake of asking my partner about my batwings and he said if I ever fell off a cliff I would be able to land safely.)  If  you used weights, the size of your arms would't be reduced but at least they would be more toned. Sorry I don't know a thing about liposuction - have you checked out any web sites on the subject?
my daughters.. friends ..mother had her upper arms liposuctioned and it was fine until the fat came back elsewhere in her case onto her neck..dont worry about it just wear short sleeve tops and be happy..we all get things ..if i had a choice between fat arms or fat neck the neck would not win..the fat just appears elsewhere..just remember if someone doesnt like the way you look then they can sling their hook.............

In the mean time, why don't you try this simple exercise.  Begin by using anything that weighs about 1 or 2 pounds that you can grasp and hold securely.  Then, sitting in a low back chair or bench, hold the weight over your head at extended arms length.  Slowly lower the weight behind you head as far as you can.  Then slowly lift the weight to the starting position.  Try to do this at least 5 times to start.  Increase the repititions to a goal of ten and then aim to do the 10 repititions 3 times in a row with a minutes rest betwee sets.  As your strength increases, increase the weight a pound or 2 at a time.  This is very effective in firming the under arm triceps.  The flabby area is a lot of muscle, not all fat.  At least give it a try...
