My oh drives me mad...the local elections are coming up and as always he says he will not be voting..never votes in anything..I have even arranged for postals so he does not even have to drag himself to a polling both but still can't even scribble a cross and name on a bit of paper..BUT..he does nothing but rant and rave about the Government etc etc..whining, moaning and has plenty to say about what they do and don't do. I say.. if you do not even vote then you have NO right to an opinion...people like his dad have fought and died in order that we may live in a democratic society..and to my mind he is insulting their bravery....GGGRRRRR...rant over....

don't vote, then can't rant, voting gives you a voice, abstaining does not.

I have a postal vote as my polling station is at a distance accessible by public transport after a walk, two buses and another walk. Not that the bus times gel. Taxis are expensive. There is another polling station within walking distance but not in my ward.
I have, as yet not received any literature about any candidate. No meetings have been advertised to introduce any cadidate and policies. No candidate supporter has knocked on my door. No one has asked for support by telephone.
If no one can be bothered to supply me with information as to why I should vote for them why should I be beggared to walk to the nearest post box and vote? A pig in a poke comes to mind.

ok, I am standing in the local elections. I've spent the last goodness knows how long writing personally addressed letters to the postal voters and knocking on doors. I am shattered. I can't do many more 1.30am bedtimes and 5am starts.
However, I do believe that politics on a national level and politics on a local level are quite different. That's why I am standing as an independent.
Hope you all vote :)
