I've had a couple of e-mails about questions I've subscribed to but God knows when I did because I can't mind on it.........

Well done Clanad & TCL!  It hasn't worked for me yet.

kazza, subscribing (& not subscibing - I've just noticed my mistake!)  means you are supposed to be informed when a new answer has been added to that question.  This is a follow up to the post below from fo3nix.

I subscribed to a thread that was very active, generating over 700 responses, but it has been dormant for some time... yet last week someone posted a reply and I was notified by e-mail... so it works... at least for that thread...

Robina what I meant was I hadn't subscribed on purpose.

I wondered what the difference was.  At first I thought I had to click on that in order to join in.  Presumably the 'unsubscribe to this question' option means that won't hear any more about it.

Being new and green, I clicked on subscribe and a message came back to say it had been accepted, and I didn't know what for . Then I saw that the box now said un subscribe, so in a slight flurry of panic I hit that button as well, and I got a thank you for that too! Now I came searching for the answer and here you all are......

You're quite right artee this isn't a site for chatting so you can get THAT idea out yir head or the Boys will be sent round to point out the error of yir ways. Welcome by the way.........

artee, I think exchanges of pleasantries are permitted; they tend to encourage polite discussion and rational debate (unlike the eruptions of animus that sometimes appear on hot topics), and a good thing too. But you should probably not look as if you're enjoying yourself too much.

artee what jno has said is correct. We're only getting away wi this because ABE (the AB Editor) is busy at weekends writing books on the correct usage of apostrophes.........
