What's going on? I thought that multiculturalism wasn't working! Why are these kids outperforming their indigenous counterparts?

Come on - we have all enjoyed the 'immigration is destroying our British culture crossed with black gangs are creating no go areas' threads - should we be celebrating this fantastic story - or should we wait for those whose politics veer to the right of Genghis Khan to find the negative spin on this story?

These are ridiculously good SAT results...especially when you consider that some of these kids had to learn English as a second language.

I assume that it's a lot easier for primary school kids to learn another language than us old 'uns (I gave up tryin to learn Spanish after a coup, of year's because of the huge number of verbs and different tenses!)

Personally, I don't think this is such a fantastic thing...but for traditionalists, surely a positive?

Those parents chose RC schools for the quality of education & discipline they offer.

IMExperience most original ethnic people were educated in RC schools/convents in their homelands as their introduction to these shores.

Fred, the Mall is fine for fit adolescents but not the best place for children and families to cope with crowds.

My street had all races/nationals catering & sharing in HMs celebrations.

Catholic school have a tendency to be far stricter than others, and expect more from their pupils, just adding that as there are plenty of other inner city schools that fail miserably, no matter the mix.

That is very good. Maybe councils will no longer need interpreters or print leaflets in umpteen languages. Although if all are learning this country's native tongue, is that really multiculturalism any more, or is an element of integration occurring here ?

Would a Jewish family who worship weekly at the synogogue and also take part in their local community's charity sports days fit into this demographic?
