IPad Facebook text delete

Hi. I am having a problem when trying to send a message to someone on Facebook from my iPad and I need to delete a text character. When I try to delete a character that I may have typed incorrectly using the delete key the iPad then continues to delete all previous text until I touch the keyboard again. This has to be very quick as it has already deleted a number of characters by that time. Also when the text drops to a new line a character or two that I have typed does not appear meaning I need to go back and delete......well you get the picture! This does not affect any other application I use nor does it happen on other iPads. I have also reloaded the Facebook app to try as a fix which did not work. It's an original iPad still using the iOS 5 system. Any help as always appreciated!

I would be inclined to uninstall then reinstall the Facebook app and see if that works, before you do though, check the app store to see if there are any updates for it. I get a lot of niggly issues with Facebook app so usually I open it through a browser instead.
