Reporting ChatterBank posts

In ChatterBank there is a question about moving to Israel.  Clearly this has mistakenly been posted in the wrong category, but it is not possible to report it as such (i.e. bring it to AB Ed's attention so that it can be moved).

Shouldn't worry too much - it may lead to a discussion, and hopefully they will get their answers.

yes it is. When you click on Report this Post, 'wrong category' is one of the options you can give as a reason. I've done this occasionally myself, just on the grounds that questioners are more likely to get the answers they want if they're in the right place. Doesn't mean the post will be deleted.

It's NOT another senior moment this time!  In Chatterbank, "Wrong Category" is not offered as an option when you click Report this Post.

oh yes, absolutely right, apologies SteveD - the senior moment is all mine - and it's the same here in Suggestions. I guess the theory is that chattering can be about any topic. But you're right, some ordinary questions are posted in ChatterBank that would be better off elsewhere, so maybe the list of reporting options should be the same as in other sections. I expect AB Ed has gone to Ascot North rather than the monastery this weekend, but perhaps he can think about it when he gets back.

jno "incorrect category" is an option in this topic. Is all getting too much for you? Maybe you should have a lie down wi a damp copy of the Readers Digest applied to the forehead.......

sigh... you're right too TCL... I think I was actually in ChatterBank when I thought I was in Suggestions... you're right, any more senior moments and I shall perish of extreme senility... I think a pause for reflection is called for as that nice Mr Blair would say, I shall go and curl up in the sun and attach some solar cells to my brain cells and see if that helps.

Hi All,

Some of the criteria for Reporting have been suspended for use in ChatterBank for the reason jno mentioned - as "chat" can technically be about any topic, we felt it would be, well, rude to somehow penalise someone for being irrelevant or posting in the wrong category. I have taken the monumental task upon myself to transfer posts to their more logical home or decide to leave them where they lay - for as netibiza mentioned they can lead to a discussion.
