Just had the confirmation and bumff for our flight, and I notice there is a one letter spelling error in my first name, making it not the same as on my passport. Does it matter?

Yes,I suggest you get another set of flight documents from the company.Better to be safe than sorry later.
Since there's always the chance that someone with THAT spelling of your first name MAY be on a "go away" list, wouldn't you feel better in pointing out the error on your travel documents. It'd be better than arriving in your Holiday Destination only to be told, "You're on OUR lists of "Don't admit"..... Thank you for flying XXXX Airways to our beautiful country....... Please wait here..... Here's your flight back to YOUR country....... Don't come again" After all your passengers details are sent to the Country of destination before the flight departs.
You know how computers operate? when they type in your name, due to the spelling error "the Computer says NO"
