A friend asked me to help her out with work the other night, and she txt me the address as I had never been there.Got to a local main road which is normally bumper to bumper and it was clear, so without realising my speed went over the speed limit. Within 10 seconds a policeman who had been hiding in a driveway jumped out and flagged me down, asking me to pull off the road. After loads of questions he finally told me I had been speeding. I was surprised but accepted it.
Then it gets worse... he asks if I have my license on me - yes I do officer!
So I hand it over and am waiting to just get in my car and get to my friend when he tells me my license has expired - 2 years ago!!! I look at him in disbelief and think he has to be joking. Not he is not.For some reason my brain had in it the same expiry date for the paper license as the plastic part.No. The plastic bit is every 10 years, so now he tells me I could get a £1000 fine from DVLA. Am slightly freaking out at this point, he tells me that he wont reort it himself but it may well be picked up on when I produce my documents, which ive already done and yes they held my license to send off.
So now I am just waiting to see whether a hefty fine comes through my door......(
i can't confirm for definite, but i've had it happen a few times and no-one has got a fine - but that's not to say it won't happen but all they've done is send them off to be renewed and paid the fee which i think is £20
I hope so, am pretty stuffed if I get that fine!
Feet are as bad as ever, luckily I have an appointment with the hospital next month so see what they say x
well i've had at least 8 people with revoked licenses who didn't get fined and probably a whole load more who applied for a new photocard at least two years out of date (but that's because i wouldn't let them have a new car without a valid photocard) and none of them got a fine
Did 1st group last wk, 2nd one tonight. Its much much harder than I thought and found out a few things that wish I'd known before I'd signed the contract! but thats not for on here. Will plod on for the time being!
Can I just ask. . . I haven't got a plastic one, I only have a paper one that expires in a few decades. Does it matter that I haven't got a plastic one?
Marijn, it is my understanding that as long as all the details are correct on your paper license you don't have to worry, well not until your reach 70 anyway.
