Apparently, foxglove, it's to do with a sense of humour - or that's what many Chatterbankers have been saying on various threads today. It all goes toward the light-hearted approach of whatting, they claim.

I think (or I know) I am classed in the no-humour crowd but nonetheless this adolescent humour, well...

yes Foxglove, reminds me of the joke about the doctor telling a woman: 'I'm afraid I've had to tell your husband he'll have to give up half his sex life, for the sake of his health.' She replies: 'Which half, the thinking about it or the talking about it?' So you should probably take pity on the chatterers...

Oh Artful, Please dont put your self down, you have stack loads of humour, you & I have done alot of leg pulling on chatterbank  xx

I see what you mean jno, they say its the one's who talk about fantasies & sex are usually the who ain't getting any!

Also I am not a prude, but I hate the double meaning questions, and yes I do report them.   :-)

Artful you always seem as happy as Larry to me.

Dear me, cat woman, shaneystar - don't worry about me, I'm not feeling at all sorry for myself. Truth be told, I rather like my sense of humour. I'm sure you realised I was referring to some of these posters on Chatterbank who are drowning out many a good thread (everything is subjective, I know) with such frivolities - I've decided not to use the word 'inane' again!!!

Right glad that's sorted. I'm glad I know who Larry is now, shaneystar!
jno, glad to see your back even if I haven't seen much from you - 'twas last week your training wasn't it?
As for leg-pulling, cat woman I'm all set for more!! Be warned!

Dear foxglove, it's been said but I'll say it again, if you don't like chatterbank don't go there. A lot of this stuff is from, I guess, highly educated people having a healthy joke. Some go too near the knuckle and get banned, others steer dangerously but delightfully close to the edge. As long as there is no outright obscenity or other breaches (see the rules) I find it very very amusing. I hope the editorial people sometimes have a smile, even when they are compelled to ban someone.

I will never forget a case I and others stood up for. There was a post in Body and Soul, and on the face of it some people snorted with laughter and sent in ribald (and wholly unoriginal) sexist replies and the editors withdrew the whole thread. It now turns out that this was a young person with a really genuine problem seeking help as subsequent activity has movingly demonstrated. If you don't like chatterbank, ignore it. As to other sections, please take the default and fair (and British) option of innocent until proven guilty.

I don't understand what the difference is between chatting about sex and fantasies and, say, cars and night clubbing.  How does this indicate somebody isn't getting any? Sex and fantasies are part of everyday life so people chat about them.  Same as if I was in the pub or at work.  Personally, I find jno and catwoman's comments slightly insulting and a little petty, sorry, you two, just my opinion.

I did say it was a joke justineo... perhaps I should have put a little smiley icon on the end to make it clear   :-D

jno, the joke itself is funny but you were relating it to foxglove's question so I assumed it was meant to illustrate something, sorry if I took it the wrong way.  I realise now you said "reminds me of a joke" sorry.
sorry too, foxglove, now it looks like you've started a thread about sex and fantasies on Chatterbank :)
foxglove, another apology, your thread appeared on Chatterbank for a moment, or maybe I just dreamt it, please ignore my last posting

justineo, No apologies from me!........   Just like alot of people have been stating, its how I feel about smutty bar/ tiolet/ garage talk!  I'm not sorry to how I was raised in my childhood,  my mother and father taught me morals, and self respect   If i am in chatterbank to look for an interesting thread, although at the moment it seems to be like a kinder garden let loose in there, so I move on I dont even bother to go into the threads to see the answers.

Hi Artful,  something did happen to me  when I hit 50!  I must have left my sense of humour behind the day before

Hear, hear cat woman!
Thank you " smudge " Its good to know that its just not only me who feels the same.  :-)
catwoman, I apologised to jno because I interpretted her reply wrongly and I apologised to foxglove for confusing the category but I wasn't apologising for what I had written.  In your last posting you have inferred somehow, that if people like to make rude jokes/double entendres or make crude references to sex that they have no morals or weren't brought up properly, I don't agree with that.  I think you have every right to read and answer any thread on here and to avoid certain subjects if you choose, I personally avoid religious threads because I see religion as a dangerous concept, but I wouldn't belittle other contributors because of it.
