Just been in bargain booze, bought 8 cans of cidre and got £20 cash back, jumped back in car, OH asked how much he owed me for the cider (cidre cider) I got the receipt out and told him, £88.33.

The man had mis-keyed the amount for the cider and overcharged my card! OH spun the car round and I shot in and told the guy. He was the franchise holder too and should have had better customer service skills than anyone!! He had no idea how he had done it but he gave me £75 and change in cash. My fault for not paying attention to the figures when i keyed in the number but i was too focused on entering my pin!

I can now spend the rest of my days advising people in the village to watch out for the guy in there overcharging. He's never have noticed if i hadn't spotted it and gone back. grrrrr

I now have a wedding to go to and need to get ready, fliippin wound me up it has,
On one hand you say he mis-keyed the value of your purchase but then go on to accuse him of overcharging.

As one who works in a shop I'm surprised you are not more vigilant when you are asked to check the amount and enter your pin.

Hope you enjoy the wedding, it's a cracking day for one,
You're going to spend the rest of your days being enraged, negative and blaming someone for what could've been a one off honest mistake? Aren't there more productive and positive ways to spend your time?
When paying by card, surely you verify the amount before entering your pin?

Hope you enjoy the wedding.
The Village? watch out for Rover!
Anyone can make a mistake. If you go around the village badmouthing him for this you could get yourself in trouble.
I hope the bride and groom check the price of each other before keying in their pin number and saying I do.
blimey Dot, calm down! maybe it was an innocent mistake. you got your money back straight away.
my basic maths ain't that good on a Saturday, however, you got 8 cans of french cidre and £20 cash back, you then return and get £75 and change, looks like a result to me, if you tell the rest of the village the poor bloke will be bankrupt by 5 o'clock.
Baza, should have been charged £8.33 for the cider, not £88.33. Overcharged by £75.
S'right Dot. Sounds like you ripped the poor old shopkeeper off.
Hc. Don't forget the £20 dottie had tucked away in her bag.
£8.33 for the booze plus £20 cash back
£75 plus change to put right the £80 error,
net profit £20 cash back.
I would say it was an honest mistake. We were charged £450 in our local shop instead of £45 and we didn't find out until we got the bank statement.
forgive me, but does NO-ONE check their receipts before leaving the shop??!!!

some scanners are uber-sensitive and can lodge one item at least twice when it goes over the scanner thingy.
That's happened to me Alba, so now I check my receipt before leaving the shop.
alba, one does ones best to make sure that the scallywags at Harrods do not overcharge one, if they do they get an invite to my next peasant shoot.
Seems like a genuine mistake and you got your full refund. I don't see any problem. The onus is on the customer to check the amount before keying in a PIN. Enjoy your wedding .
The £88.33 was for the cider only - not the cashback
I wonder will Dot return the £20 she made from this persons mistake.
