Having Jokes And Crossword Clues In The Latest Posts -Can You Stop Them?

sometimes the latest post box is flooded with jokes or clues, and barely any proper questions - and its annoying and pointless - they are not things you look at because the title interests you - you go to those topics specifically for a reason, so whats the point of displaying them?

it just throws other proper questions off the page and makes it hard to find something good to look at.

If there were other 'proper questions' on the page they would show up on latest posts, if there is a category your interested in, just look into it instead of latest posts joko

If latest posts bugs you click on answerbank logo and you'll see what's going on around the 'water cooler' if latest posts are hi-jacked

I do have some sympathy with the OP, but if you suppress them you are then discriminating against people who like/follow them. So on that basis, for example, why shouldn't people who abhor pets ask for those to be suppressed, and atheists get Religion suppressed and so on. You could also, on these lines, make a case for suppressing Chatterbank which at times completely monopolises the latest posts panel.

I would prefer an alternative measure, extend the latest posts panel to show more threads - say a dozen or so.

Also clicking on the Answerbank Logo takes you to the front page which as far as I know excludes Q&P and Chatterbank posts.

i am not saying exclude topics because don't like them, its because these are not real questions.

Joko, do you mean these are not real questions in the same way in which you placed this in 'Suggestions' and so far you have asked a couple of questions but not actually made a single suggestion?

but they are what are filling latest posts is what people are discussing at that time, yoou can always turn things around, there are people on here change latest posts by psting in food and drink or birdwatching twitching, it's up to you to get the best out of the site and see if the site answers to your needs

As mentioned already, it is a Q&A site, so you shuld expect that to monopolise latest posts

no one is going to see a crossword puzzle and go and look unless they are doing that crossword themselves - in which case they will just look in the topic itself - not wait for it to pop up at random.

it doesn't really matter of course, i'd just rather see proper questions to tempt me in.

I only do 2 xwords a week, RT & MoS, but I answer a heck of a lot of xword questions daily on here, and so do lots of others.

Your point seems to be that because you find certain things uninteresting, annoying and pointless and they don't fit your idea of a proper question they shouldn't be in Latest Posts!
