It's common sense to me, they cannot seriously employ staff with their face covered in hospital. It's even more of a no brainer than the recent court issue. UK, grow a pair and ban this stupidity. I'm sure that most of those wearing the veil are only attention seeking anyway. Up till recently it was hardly ever heard of.

If hospital staff can't wear long sleeves, wristwatches or bracelets for the sake of hygiene, (in my hospital men aren't allowed to wear ties for the same reason) then niqabs and burkas definitely should not be allowed.

I've worked in various hosptials for years - I've never seen a doctor/nurse/clinical practitioner wear a veil when seeing a patient or out and about in the hopsital - in fact I don't recall seeing anyone medical wearing one at all; that would include admin staff. I agree with mamy, are starting to see things that aren't even there?
