yes, that's been suggested before. Money & Finance is probably the nearest one, but it's not always a good fit.

Depending on the question, I'd say either Money & finance or Jobs & careers.

As juno has said, this has been suggested before.

It's a good idea lucyshandbag, as someone might need legal advice on say a divorce, etc., which might not come into the Money & Finance - Jobs & Careers categories.

We asked for this section before.  Unfortunately a number of ABers just took the opportunity to say how cr*p the advice offered on here is and how it's not "real" advice anyway.

As you may know, I always do my best to answer any legal questions, as I have a law degree, am working for my LLM, but am admittedly not yet qualified.  I, and others, do however have access to a range of legal sources more reliable than google.

I think the section could go ahead, so long as it had a caveat that was similar to that at the head of "money and finance" - reminding people that you don't really know who's advising you or if they're qualified to do so.

Assuming people don't think that all the people on here who try to help with legal questions are liars/morons, then this would be a great idea lucyshandbag! :-)

I remember that too acw.

However, whilst I agree it would be beneficial to have a Legal Topic on here - any ABer's asking for legal advice, should only ask to guide them, then consult a Solicitor before taking any action, etc.

Indeed smudge - a good caveat at the top, and perhaps reminders as we post.  I do try to remind people that it's only an LLB that I have.  I don't pretend to be qualified!

I'm glad someone else remembers how rudely the idea got poo-pooed last time.

ABE - when you next consider new topics, please think seriously about this idea.  It could be a forum for genuinely useful information sharing.  Something that I know the site was set up to enable! :-)

and surely the point of using this site is to gain other peoples opinions or personal experiences on certain subjects, not always 100% facts.  like you say, it could have a warning so people know to consult a solicitor or CAB or something.  it would just be handy to be able to ask other peoples advice/opinions on legal stuff when you're not sure.xx

Lucyshandbag - if you have a question now - fire away!  I'm very bored at work, and it's my last hour of access to all these jazzy legal resources, so if you have a Q, ask now! :-)
Exactly lucy - that is what this site is all about - people's opinions, experience & advice. So come on Ed!
Totally agree - definately need a Legal Matters section.  I often have a query and it is so frustrating trying to find an answer on the Web.  So, please put on a Legal Matters Section, with thw proviso that nothing is cast in stone.
