One of the questions in A&L gives away who dies in HP6 in it's "title". There doesn't seem to be the "report this question" button on that Q, so can I report it here?

Please could you edit the question and/or ban the ignorant idiot who posted it?

Do you mean the one by Abadabz? If so the "report" option is there and he/she has apologised.
other questioners give it away too TCL and while I personally do not care about the deaths of fictional characters one way or the other, perhaps one of those little warning notes at the top of the section would not go amiss. On the other hand, it's a matter of politeness, rather than of life and death, and so is not necessarily any worse than calling people ignorant idiots.

THECORBYLOON: I was (primarily) referring to the one from izziemizery. I have just checked (for the 3rd time) and, at least on my screen, there is no "report" button showing.

It's all very well apologising, but forethought would be better. The A&L section is getting like the SKY ONE forum: loads of threads on the same topic that should be in one thread, and people with "spoiler tourettes" who seem to take joy in putting spoilers in the "titles" of their questions.

If the report button has gone, that probably means it's already been reported.

I explained to a new user today (abadabz) about not puting in spoilers.  Admittedly it wasn't in the title, but I felt that I spoiler warning would have been nice.  As TCL said - he/she has apologised.  Has this other user apologised?

It's such a shame when people ruin it for others - same with films and TV series (e.g., the ones that are on sky first, then terrestrial!).

acw: Thanks for the clarification. If it has been reported, ABEd has yet to edit the question which has been up since Thursday! I don't know if the poster has apologised as I thought it best not to read any more of the topic (not all of us can afford HP in hardback, and reviews from friends whose opinions I normally trust haven't convinced me that the book is worth the extra few quid in H/B).

I can understand people occasionally making the odd mistake, but far too many HP fans show a total disregard for basic net courtesy in both the "spoiler" and the "not starting a new topic when one already exists" department. (Not to mention that most of the "questions" on HP would be better off as 'chat' on a dedicated HP forum!)

Apologies are all very well if genuine and the person tries to stop doing whatever they were apologising for, but my experience has been that spoiler posters just keep on doing it, sometimes deliberately, sometimes because they are so excited about their subject that they forget themselves.

I agree it's very annoying when people do it.  I even found questions that implied stuff would happen, but at the time I hadn't read it yet.  The questions revealed the plot to me.  :-(

I agree - an HP section would have been good- to avoid the problem for the rest of us.  But then if they're mean nasty spoilers - what's to say they wouldn't just stick a post in the middle of another section anyway.  :-(

I'm not into Hoary Patter but I appreciate the annoyance the "spoilers" create. If it were me, I would hint at the question and then post a reply giving more details and that way the plot could remain a secret. Just a suggestion mind......
lolol, hoary patter.
I got the new HP6 book for my brothdribble last week, and I finished reading it yesterday.  Until I had finished it, I deliberately kept away from the Arts & Literature section specifically because I knew that there was a danger of spoilers being there from idiotic dumdums who are trying to destroy civilisation by blurting out things.

A wise precaution, bernardo, but (although it sometimes seems otherwise) it is the Art & Literature section - not the Blather on about Harry Potter section!

I've read and enjoyed (for the most part) HP 1 - 5, but I really feel that most of the questions on HP should be on a seperate HP site, not on Answerbank at all.

Hi all,

Unfortunately, I cannot keep people from posting spoilers, either within the body of the Question or the Question title. It is up to the individual poster as to how they draft their Questions.
