Superfish And Search Conduit

I seem to have been able to get rid of Superfish (nasty, pervasive little brute)
Search Conduit seems to have taken over my browser, (another nasty pain)

Have Windows XP and (was running) Mozilla Firefox as a browser.

In between the replies/chat on threads on this site, I'm getting adverts, with the following words before the ad appears.

Trying to get rid of search conduit is proving a bit of a pain, would anyone please have any advice/hints/tips?

I hope that's sufficient info, but if more is required, please shout :-)

(ps, have run spybot, search and destroy, the anti-virus is Avast)

Search Conduit is very nasty program that you have to remove it from your computer as soon as possible. if you cannot remove it by your antivirus program, you can try to remove it manually.

1, Go to Control Panel and delete Search Conduit from Add & Remove program
2, To stop all Search Conduit running processes, press CTRL+ALT+DEL to open the Windows Task Manager. Click on the “Processes” tab, search Search Conduit then right-click it and select “End Process” key.

3, Remove add-ons:

Internet Explorer:
1) Go to Tools -> ‘Manage Add-ons’;
2) Choose ‘Search Providers’ -> choose ‘Bing’ search engine or ‘Google’ search engine and make it default;
3) Select ‘Search Results’ and click ‘Remove’ to remove it;
4) Go to ‘Tools’ -> ‘Internet Options’; select ‘General tab’ and click website, e.g. Google.com. Click OK to save changes.

4, Disable proxy

1. Click on Tools on the menu bar
2. Select Internet options
3. Go to Connections tab
4. Select LAN settings at the bottom of the dialog
5. Under the Proxy sever, untick 'use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections).'
6. Click OK

if you still cannot remove it, you may search online and seek help from online tech.

I only got rid of search conduit by having the hard drive reformatted and reinstalling Windows 7 . Nothing else touched it.
It disguises itself as internet explorer or any other browser, it also changes the names on 'processes' every few seconds so you can't search for them and 'end process'
When I had it it took over IE, firefox and chrome.
