Rachel Riley seems to think so:

But then maybe she gets paid to promote long odds?

What do you think? Could Chile come from the middle of the pack to a glorious victory?

(Note: AB's technical team is based in Chile, so we've got their happiness at stake!)

(or there will be shortly)
good logo ED thx
funny i was reading an article about Pele this morning he said Chile will do really well as they are a good team
40-1 they might be worth a bet.

"40-1 they might be worth a bet."

I think so. It's worth a quid.
Have to admit I don't think I registered a word of that during the whole 2 minutes.....(sigh)
Football is un-predictable and at 40/1 Chile is a good bet.
Fprget all the hype and nonsense from the so called 'I know it all brigade', it's anyone's World Cup.
Good luck !!
Food for thought for a 'stats freak' like me but, having got it down to 2 teams, Colombia and Chile, she offered no explanation why she ruled out the former.

Looking at the Nate Silver blog World Cup Interactive, Chile have a 11% chance to get to the finals:

I'm puzzled why she didn't start off with the most obvious stat.
No europen team has never won the world cup in S. America.

That will change this year.
Ever not never :(
Royfromaus; 7 S American hosted World Cups = 7 S American winners but also 5 European runners-up. So you may well be correct (though my money will not be on it) but which European team had you in mind?
And, of course, she was quite selective with her stats, discarding Brazil on the basis that no tournament fav had won since the 80s. But 6 host nations have won the World Cup.
Off to a good start Ed! 2 goals in 13 minutes. Nice little warm up match for the team here against Oz.
If they continue to perform like they did tonight The Netherlands have got to be in with chance
That's a good response from Oz and Cahill in particular, great header.

Not a bad show at all from Chile :)

Slightly overshadowed by the flying Dutchman earlier!

For a definitive answer, now apparent: No.
