Can someone tell me what actually happens when the option on your own thread is selected to "close this question"?

To the right at the top of a question page we have the option to say "my question has been answered...click to no longer recieve responses"...

Does this mean I will only no longer recieve e-mail notification of responses? or does it actually block further responses from ABers?

It means you will no longer receive notification e-mails, but answers will still appear.
