Fao Sqad Big Hole Following Removal Of Basal Cell Carcinoma

Sqad - I can't thank you enough for your original answers. I was sitting here in France, isolated and worrying hugely - you made a difference. It's been a tough few weeks, but I thought you would like to know that half of the flesh has regrown to level and the rest is pitted, but improving. Also, skin has begun to reform around the edges. We go to the hospital tomorrow for yet more removal of fibrin and I think that they will be pleased. OH is also back to dog-walking (heart specialist is pleased) and driving short distances. I know it is going to take a lot more time, but I was worrying a lot with all the exudation at first. Thanks again - I'll let you know when it has healed up!

I had a 'basal cell carcinoma' on my back, which fortunately was easily fixed by a cream. Whilst I was having attention for this I brought the dermatologist's attention to a mole on my posterior left calf. This after tests was diagnosed as a 'malignant melanoma'. This was removed after day surgery and a skin graft was carried out.
As a 'final' test I was offered a lymph node biopsy, which I accepted.
The wound/incision in the groin seeped clear liquid for many weeks, almost 8 I think. Seeps is perhaps the wrong word, I was changing trousers, underwear, socks at least three times a day. I also had a absorbent padding/ rubber sheets everywhere I sat or slept. I eventually got it under control by taping incontinence pads over the wound dressings.
If I'd known you were feeling so depressed I would have tried to help, because you're reflecting exactly how I felt.
You seem well on the road to recovery, so I wish you well. lets face it we have to stick together

SlackAlice - thank you so much. I was wrapping leg in several towels etc. - as you obviously know. It's not much fun when you are so isolated. They say that because of OH's age (81) a skin graft will be the last resort, but I am encouraged by the visible regrowth of skin round the edges (I feed him well!).
People do underestimate what is meant by 'seepage' sometimes and the quantity was quite frightening - I can understand how you felt and you're right, we must stick together. I am very much hoping that tomorrow the measurements will confirm what I think and that there is at least a half-centimetre shrinkage. Thank you again - so nice to know that there is someone out there. x
