The result isn't binding anyway so the split opinion result wouldn't be helped by a rerun. One could demand an enquiry to ensure all was above board. Maybe a recount. The cost of a rerun difficult to justify however. I think that the result should be accepted and hope there was an opportunity for folk to come to their senses and demand an exit in the not too distant future, instead. Unsure an AB poll on it would be that informative either.

This is a very serious matter, jd. Exit polls are remarkably accurate. Who's going to believe Cameron when he smugly announces, after a secret count, the Remain side won 55%-45%?

I don't think Cameron will count the votes. There are scrutineers and independent officials around to monitor these things. There is a danger I suppose though of postal vote abuse similar to that that occurred in some communities where a small group of people arranged for the ballot papers to be filled in on behalf of the community members.
A 51%/49% vote would mean difference of around half a million votes so a recount is unlikely to achieve much

Cameron started this referendum campaign with a lie. He has reluctantly called it as a response to the fear that UKIP would achieve huge gains in the General Election by promising the very same referendum. He stated that he would support the leave lobby if his "negotiations" with the EU did not yield significant change for British interests and concerns. He negotiated nothing of the sort, but did secretly draw up a plan of action with the CBI and other beneficiaries of the corrupt regime. He lied then and still continues to do so. Liars do not suddenly switch to truthful or honest behaviour, he will do anything now to preserve his false position.

Of course Cameron won't count the votes. They'll get some kitchen scales to weigh the 'remain' vote and take the lorry loads of 'leave' votes to the weigh station.
