We have a Beko washing machine that has a very grimy door seal,it's like a black ground-in layer of grime. I've tried to clean it with kitchen cleaner but that wont move it. I did think about having a new door seal fitted ,but on the Beko machines you virtually have to dismantle the whole of the front of the machine as it's part of the front cover .
Does anyone know of some sort of cleaner that will remove this stuff from the seal without destroying it.
We now know that it's a fault with this machine ,as your meant to completely dry the door seal after use and leave the door open.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.You are supposed to dry the door seal and leave the door ajar with any washing machine. If you don’t then you get a build up of black mould (not grime) on the door seal. I clean mine with cheapo thick bleach, use gloves, wipe around the seal with kitchen paper and get into all the folds, then add a squirt of thick bleach and wipe around again leaving plenty of the bleach all around the seal. Put another squirt in the detergent drawer and run it on the longest hottest wash you can. when its finished, run it again empty so you don't bleach your clothes. I also do old clothes or dusters or non precious whites in the first wash load just in case.

Thick bleach will solve the problem. You dont have to fill the seal with it though ... just place rolled up toklet tissue over the mould and saturate it with bleach. Leave it for a few hours and the mould should be more or less gone.
This works a treat on the edge of the bath/tiles etc. Where you often get the same problem.

Just a thought raybush. Are you using the silicone sachet detergents? I found that when we used them we also had that hateful grime build up. I think that because most wash cycles are done on a fairly cold wash, that when the sachets break down they adhere to the seal and indeed the plastic parts of the pump and pipework. We cleaned our machine with a couple of boil washes and standard powder detergent and, bingo, clean machine. No problem since ceasing to use the sachets.
