I just wanted to write a quick note, thanking some very nice people on here for their support.
It is now fast approaching the 1st anniversary of my operation, whilst I still have some way to go I have far exceeded expectations as to where I would be now - including the surgeons!
I am now walking without help, and manage 5k most days. I now exercise most days either walking or rowing machine and have just started weights of which I am having to be careful as I still have a rather nasty umbilical hernia which hopefully will be going in the next couple of months.
So to Choux, Ummm, Eccles, ducksie, Barmaid, Mazie, Anneasquith and so many many others Thank you for your support xxx

You have done magnificently well this past year (I know that the drawing board must have been out a lot longer). I wish you continued success in reaching your ultimate goal. If anyone can do it I am sure you are that person. Good fortitude, good luck and improved health to you x

(I just ordered a fitbit - well actually it came free with my new phone - I'm guessing I am going to have to pull my finger out now I have a wedding to go to).

Just curious here as to why someone needs to pat themselves on the back for what is essentially an operation?
Wish someone could do an operation for substance abuse, but I get castigated for my 'drug of choice' (alcohol) when others who turn to food get a pat on the back for having an operation! Not taking away Islays good fortune in anyway but double standards here somewhere.
