Are they now out-dated and members should be allowed to put forward suggestions for their improvement.

The following link seems to be the most up-to-date position and is possibly way past its 'sell by date'.

I think those that are already in place (though daily ignored) are fine - there could be some new ones added, yes.
They still look fine to me after giving them a glance.
Any particular ones you want to highlight that I may have missed which you can suggest a suitable rewording?

G'afternoon f-f.......There is one that, in my opinion, could be removed and it reads...." Any posts asking or discussing why a post or thread was removed or closed, or why a member was banned or suspended, will be removed".

Hans.
In my view we have enough posts about removed posts so I wouldn't welcome a relaxation of these rules.
Any particular reason why you would want that removed Hans?
Hans....supposing you were banned and lots of us started to post about you and speculate....and things were being posted that were untrue and unfair and hurtful....would you find that acceptable?
gness...that is happening under the existing Site Rules.
That has to be there Hans. So that no explanation of why can be insisted upon.
Hans - those actions are either taken by the Ed (in which case discussion is futile) or by a Moderator - who has to justify the action to the Ed who either accepts or reverses the action (in which case discussion is futile).

I wish to see AB as a democratic site. Being unable to discuss matters such as 'why has someone been banned' is far from democratic.

It would be a simple matter for the Ed to be honest and tell us.

Hans.
It is, Sqad.....but is sometimes stopped......imagine a free for all... :-(
Gosh, Hans.....complaining again?

Plus ça change....
We're nearly there Gness.
We are, Mamya...sadly..x

Hans, you haven't answered me...how would you feel?
Question Author
@gness.......I would hope that the Ed would come forward and spell out the truth.

Hans.
Second rule says no capital letters as it is deemed you are shouting and being rude. Over ten years ago when I joined I just happened to have caps lock on and my user name is therefore all capital letters. At that time I had no idea it meant I was shouting. Fed up of asking for it to be changed. Twice I have been told it will happen but I won't hold my breath. If I leave and come back I don't even know if I could have the same name so apologies but as it stands I will have to keep shouting at you all.
It's Sunday afternoon Hans, not really the best time to get a busy Gnome at the screen.
If someone is banned i think it's pretty safe to assume every time it was for a serious breach of Site Rules
Bakers Dozen, I think that only applies in a post not in a user name.
//Any posts asking or discussing why a post or thread was removed or closed, or why a member was banned or suspended, will be removed//

I can't see that it is practical or desirable for the editorial team to justify its actions.

On the other hand forbidding speculation about what some may feel unfair, arbitrary or eccentric moderation smacks of the D-Notice /superinjunction censorship we've seen recently in the wider world.
