Don't These People Have Brains Of Their Own??
27 Answers
Was watching a program last night called "Eat, Shop, Save".
Family on there needed £800 for a special chair for their disabled daughter so called in the TV people to give them advice on how to achieve this.
Fair enough, but within minutes of presenter talking to them it transpires they get takeaways at least 4 times a week!
Apart from the obvious unhealthy aspects , does it really take a TV team to convince them that just cutting back on this would save them a shed load of money, in just a few weeks they could easily save enough even if they didn't do anything else.
Are these people just thick? Just want to be on TV? They astound me sometimes.

A lot more don't.
They eat takeaways because they grew up in homes where this was the norm, their parents hardly cooked, so never taught them, so they don't cook either.
It probably is a genuine revelation to them when the cost savings are pointed out, simply because no-one has told them before.
It's important to remember, you know things because someone taught you. If no one taught you, you wouldn;t know either.

No they are not thick.......I found that it was very sad......modern life.
They couldn't cook, they didn't know wahat some vegetables were .eg carrots etc, the girl felt that all peas came in packets , not in pods.
What do they teach kids in school.
I felt it was a very sad reflection on modern society.

I too shout at the telly with some of these programmes, but busy family life can get you bogged down into a spiral and if these programmes give a few ideas to anyone, they aren't doing any harm.
I haven't watched this one but do watch 'Eat well for less' BBC and am often open mouthed at what some spend and the resulting savings in both money and improvement in health.
We shouldn't always judge others by our own standards, human though it is.

The concept of cutting back in order to save for what you want doesn’t seem to occur to some. We often hear young people moaning about not being able to get on the property ladder, but it wouldn’t occur to them to forego their nights out, designer clothes, holidays, latest phones, etc., in order to save a deposit. They want it all.
They must teach it in some schools.
