My mum and I both have laptops using Windows 10. Hers has a spellchecker as did mine until an update in April and I have been unable to work out why it has disappeared.
Can anyone help as my typing is not good and I miss the red underlining of words which are wrong.
Many thanks.

I have done this and the only place the spellchecker works is in Microsoft Office. It doesn't work for writing emails of commenting on Facebook etc.
that is browser spell checking, you need to look at your browser options for spell checking. what browser are you using?

In your browser options put a 'tick' in the "check my spelling as I type" box. Generally it's in the Language sections.

^^ thats only a general guide, if you tell us what internet browser your using we can be more specific.

I am using Google Chrome and cannot see an option to turn a spellchecker on or off.

I have tried Grammarly but to be honest I found it a nuisance when it came to actual grammar!

For Chrome go to three dots top right. Choose settings.
Go to three lines top left clic,k then advanced then languages then choose spellcheck.

When I go into my Chrome settings, spellcheck is markes as disabled and I cannot find a way to enable it.
Thanks folks but as I said I changed nothing since the update since when I cannot access this setting.
I have even uninstalled then re-installed Chrome without any difference while my mum's on the same system still works!
Going out for a while but if anyone else has had and solved this problem please let me know.
I don't use Chrome but if it's not showing spell-checking as an option which can be enabled then it's possible that it's not got a dictionary installed. (Even if it has it might well be a US one). So these instructions for installing and enabling a British dictionary might help:
