Hi all, been waiting in hospital side ward, since 11.00 am. I'm in for a general anaesthetic for relatively simple procedure. I'm so tired, bored, hungry, thirsty and got headache! Still, mustn't complain.... :-)
Just letting off steam! :-)

Been there, I know exactly how you are feeling, much love, and good luck with the procedure.
Patience is a virtue often found in men.
But never, ever, ever found in women...

;-)
Annoying isn't it. I had a procedure a few weeks back meaning nil by mouth. I had it in my head I'd be last on the list.

Funny though, I don't eat breakfast but when I'm told I can't I'm suddenly starving.

Thank you elfin. :-)

Well, you learn something everyday, Shoota!...
The silly thing is that keeping you there in a bed adds to the cost of your procedure. If the NHS could get its act together better it could do better for its patients and save money.

Somebody said exactly the same thing to me just now, Ummmm! :-)

Hope you're on the mend..
I think I've quoted that correctly....

I know, woofgang. Crazy, isn't it?
Everyone is yawning...
Did you also have to starve ( no food or drink) after midnight?
2 years ago I had a major op cancelled three times in as many months.
I stayed in ward overnight and had nil by mouth for 24 hours. I was No 2 of 2 on the list and was shaved and showered and ready for the knife.
Then told time had run out and I could go home.I don't know if I was homicidal or Suicidal
I remember gasping for a cuppa, in fact I would have murdered for one, how is that????? I am not a violent person BTW
I suppose they have to allow for unforseen circumstances.

Elfin. :-) :-)
They'll probably tell you to go home in a minute!! Happened to hubby.
OK...I think that is reasonable and the "small breakfast essential."
Ask the staff if you can have a drink of water or squash, providing that you don't have your anesthetic before 2 hours.

This no eating or drinking for 12 hours before operation is stupid and hopefully will be abolished in the near future as it benefits nobody, anesthetist, surgeon and certainly not the patient.

Sqad, I have been having little sips of water. Did tell staff, who were fine with it..
4 hours and a dose of metoclopramide an hour before minor ops was normal when I worked in that area
