I think this site is very good and quizzes and puzzles a great sorce of help to anyone who does quizzes or crosswords and like say eggheads programme a small group who help each other and know will get an answer when stuck however just lately when you give an answer its quiestioned why did you give that answer when it had been given, if it's been asked for or reference to say what could 5d or 6a be if I knew would give answer but seems a few people make comments about being a cheat as not people's own work or some other comment and its been questoned if the site is for asking questions and getting answers that's what we want and others with comments should stick to the chatter bank.

I agree pega, most of the comments are unneccessary but sometimes the comments are misunderstood. I have seen at least two threads in Q&P where comments were directed at the poster and the person giving the answer thought it was directed at them. Most questions in this section are ephemeral so there is no need for anyone to get all bothered when they'll be over and forgotten in a day or so. The only thing that annoys me is in some of the long term puzzles such as the Rainbow ones where posters often ask for clues or hints and then someone goes and posts the answer and spoils the fun.

I couldn't agree more. This site is called Answerbank - you ask questions and expect answers, not preaching, critisism, and patronising comments. That all belongs in suggestions and Chatterbank.

I agree too pega. Q&P is my favourite section on here being an avid puzzler like yourself. There are a lot of nice helpful people on there and I am always pleased if someone can give me that elusive answer or if I can help someone with their answers.There is no need for for these comments.It is only a puzzle not a matter of life or death.I have to admit I have been guilty of answering back on some of these snide remarks.!!
The reason being, these people come across as pompous knowalls.If I posted a question and then had someone have a go at me I would be a bit cheesed off.
If I want to give an answer I will but avoid the Rainbow or Quizmail questions.The point of AB is to share knowledge so I can't see why some of them have to be so patronising.

I, for one, could not possibly do the daily telegraph GK quiz without the help of others (in fact they do most of it) and my family is impressed with me!!! Everyone's a winner!!
