An edit feature would allow errors to be corrected after posting and add updates to question.
Obviously a history of edits is essential for where posters might change original post to agitate others.

This might be one step to increase site footfall.

But this has been suggested in the past and ignored and here they are begging for donations.
No will to change it seems.

Another site I use (again) allows edits up to 30 mins after posting but only if there are no replies Anything else would be a bit too complicated I think.
Changes take time and money and do you know how much time and money would be needed to implement your suggestion?

A preview option has been suggested but again what all would be needed to introduce it?
Do you mean move into the 2020's or from the 1990's?!
^ Now if there was an edit facility...
If we do get an edit version then davebro's version is essential IMHO, otherwise it is open to abuse.
Alright stop collaborate and listen preview the post before the submission
"Changes take time and money and do you know how much time and money would be needed to implement your suggestion?"

I would suggest that it's more likely lack of technical ability.
Another possibility is that the technical folk also do work for others and AB has to wait in the queue or has a relatively lower priority.
