have a decent debate in Chatterbank?
Judging by the current bilge going on in the so called news topic, the Ed's should remove this guideline.
Please try to keep ChatterBank clear of political discussion and news. There are better categories for these topics.

As for the News section, that’s gone right down the Swanee , I’m thinking Jackdaw, OAG and a few more when debate meant exactly that, you debated a subject with differing opinions but there was a common respect amongst them, that’s now gone and in its place is total bilge , even if I or others post a subject , it ends up with bloody Boris,Crony, radicalised ,etc, and so it goes on

As far back as I can remember there has been a degree of condescension, with certain members talking down to those who are not regular combatants. I love a good debate but when every one is in such an entrenched mindset it seems somewhat pointless.
For the record I am a pro brexit, old style conservative voter with a generous portion of green on the side. BUT I voted Brexit with a pretty good idea of the short and medium term implications, and aware that it was unlikely the party in power would be able to get close to the stated intentions. I would still vote to keep out because many many years ago I voted for entry into the common market, and if that's what was still in place I would have been happy to stay.
I vote as I do because it's closest to my personal beliefs, again knowing that no party is a 100% match
So I would be happy to join in but the steady stream of name calling, and insults has no place in civilised discussion
