Changing Password On Hotmail
I am trying to change the password on my hotmail account, for security, but it keeps telling me to enter a code which is being sent to my gmail account, which I thought was the same anyway, but no code is being sent to either??
I am changing the password because I replied to an email asking me to verify my Microsoft account details and now worry this was a scam.
But anyway I thought it was recommended to change your password regularly??
Help please!

Gmail is operated by Microsoft's biggest rival, Google, so Hotmail accounts most definitely aren't the same as Gmail ones!
To view emails that have been sent to your Gmail account, you'll need to log into Google sevices. To do so, go here:
https:/
and click 'Go to Google Account'. (If, say, you're already logged into YouTube, you won't need to do that though, as YouTube is part of Google). Then click the 9-dot square, at the top right of the page, and select 'Gmail'.
Alternatively, if you can't access your Gmail account for some reason, pretend that you've completely forgotten the password for your Hotmail account and follow the instructions under 'How to reset a Windows Live Hotmail forgotten password?' here:

Thanks! My hotmail account is still accessible with my current password.
I tried to access the gmail account as you suggested, but gave up, there was no 9 dot square and it wanted me to enter my gmail password, which I dont have.
So, I went for 'How to reset a Windows Live Hotmail forgotten password' as you suggested, and used an old 25 digit recovery code, which it seemed to accept, but when I entered my hotmail address, it said this is already associated with my account and to use another email address?? I havent got another, so dont know where to go from here?
I only wanted to change my password as I feared I had responded to a scam from 'Microsoft', but this doesnt appear to be so, as my old password works (the dubious email said it would be cancelled at midnight if I didnt respond). I am worried about changing things that are working, so should I just carry on and not change anything??
I do appreciate your advice.
