The Weather Wreaks Havoc In Spain

As we sit shivering in our unheated rooms during the winter we could be heartened by the thought we're doing our bit. That thought might be heartwarming but it won't warm much else.
Will you be able to cope?

No one is going to freeze to death. The country isn't going to go bust because of the Tories £22Billion black hole in the budget.
OAP Booze trips to Benidorm might be down in January, and the Government will borrow more money to plug the gaps, and the country will function as mormal.
Well I've never had a 'booze trip to Benidorm' for a starter. We shall struggle - and we have a well insulated house. There was a 28 hr. electicity cut this April and they brought us blankets and set up a burger van in the pub car-park - we were still freezing.
At 91, and with heart & circulation problems as well as skin cancer OH gets cold very quickly and doesn't warm up easily. I have arthritis and my body already hurts with the change in the weather. I also have asthma and cold air is a no-no.
I can't believe you can be so callous, Gromit. Because of new insurance rules all bar 1 of the oil delivery firms now refuse to take a pipe through a garage to reach a tank, naturally the 1 firm costs about 7p a litre more.
Yes, I can think of people who could die - 1 isolated lady springs immediately to mind. There will certainly be a lot more older people clogging up the hospital wards and A&E..... they haven't thought this through, but they haven't thought a lot of things through it seems.
There are always options. If they wanted to get rid of the WFP then fine, but roll it into the standard pension then check how much the UK values it's past net contributers compared to other leading nations.
No doubt we do need to manage the economy tightly after Covid, Brexit EU retaliations, and the ongoing eastern European war, but the pain needs to be fairly shared not made worse for those groups picked on, because other poor decisions created further demands on the public purse.
i am not in favour of the winter fuel change but i find it highly suspicious that tories have all of a sudden learned this month that public spending cuts can have lethal consequences 🙄. where was this tory conscience over the last 14 years? you've just turned it on because labour are the ones doing it. you all turned a blind eye to the horrifying effects of austerity since 2010.
