I'm curious.

What I'm curious about is what is meant by the much used ""......."". Is this, as I assume, a reference to the use of what we used to call quotation marks. I know when a quotation is read aloud to an audience the reader, to signify that it is such, will say quote, and end quote to show that it has ended.
I haven't been on AB very long and everyone else may understand this, but if it is as I suspect, why don't they just use quotation marks? It really is much simpler.
All input appreciated.

Your original point, however, is well taken. Perhaps it only happens on Q&Ps site, I must try it . Thanks for a wee smile. geo.
