Am I imagining it or are the weather reports on BBC and ITV becoming longer than the actual news programmes?

The one after the Channel 4 news seems to go on forever too, not that any of them always get it right!!!!  Re the weather, when we all had the discussion about the 1947 weather a few days ago, for anyone interested the winter of 1963 is on BBC4 tonight at 8 o'clock

English folk tend to talk about the Weather far more than they talk about the News, so the broadcasters reflect this preference.

Not sure about longer but certainly more of a covering all the bases mishmash of supposition, sensationalism and inaccuracy.
