Any Ideas Would Be Welcome

As sister is still in hospital - and can use the broken left arm a bit better but not walking well at all.  In the bedroom she has one station on TV to look at all night as there is no remote control.  My nephew has sent away probably for a Universal Remote control but nothing has come back yet.

She has a great wee radio of her own in her own house (largish) which she can handle really well and I am thinking of bringing it up to the hospital and plugging it in for her and away she could enjoy the radio for a few hours.

Whilst she has the feeding tray to the left of her (which is the injured side) - the radio would need to be on her right but there is nothing to hold the radio.

Anybody have any idea of anything I could buy to hold the radio and for her to have acces to it which I know will help her as she is a "radio" person./

Without knowing 
(a) how big the radio is ; and
(b) how much space there is to the right of your sister's bed ;
it's hard to suggest anything here.

A small, folding table might be a possibility though:

You might want to check with staff before bring designer furniture into a medical environment, they may not appreciate non-approved accessories about the place.

thanks Barry - I thought of all that too - the locker has bits and bobs on it - I bought a lamp cos there was only ceiling light and also this locker is on her "bad" side.  The tray thing (bad side) holds her dinner etc again on the left side.

I guess I could get something to the right of her but it would have to be a little tall "something".

Remote controls are permitted but often pilferred by those who just HAVE to steal stuff.

I know, me mate's in for the next six weeks getting sepsis sorted on a heart valve and had to task a tame nurse to find one elsewhere on the floor.

I very much doubt a table like the one in Buen's like would be acceptable, too easy to knock over and can't be wheeled out the way for floor mopping etc

just looked at your link Chris - that looks good.  The radio is an old fashioned tiny ghetto blaster.  Big enough but that wee table could hold it.  I do have a B&M near me so will look at that tomorrow and see if I can carry both in.  

 

Things are permitted ok - I have seen other patients with their own TVs and remote controls and I have suggested to her to take mine but some weeks ago she disagreed as she thought she would only be in for a cuppla weeks.

Ask the staff for another tray thing.

Last time I was in hospital I could listen to the radio through the TV. Ask the staff for the remote

douglas I don't care what is pilfered once she gets out - if ever.  Do think the wee table will be accepted.

In the last hospital when  I was visiting someone all the patients had tables on tubular frames and they fit over the beds .

take her a laptop with headphones - most hospitals have wifi in some form. There are free films on youtube and the BBC, and free books on amazon

ah please - she is in a caring home not a hospital - sorry for not mentioning that - she is over 80 so not one bit techie like myself (lap top gone)  - however I have a plan in mind.  LOL  - I have myself a little stool I use to step over bath to get into walk in shower (a little low) but will see if the radio will sit on that with a little small extension lead - ye ha ha   LOL - not one bit funny but I need to laugh.

Even I don't know her radio that well but let me think - the BIG OLD BATTERIES - brilliant   LOL - no she loves the radio the batteries will run out - will have to try and get on the "mains".

I had a transistor radio with earphones when in hospital for a few weeks. Comforting when you can't sleep nights.
