Which smartphones are made by Chinese firms? I am not keen to own one.

Huawei is probably the best known but there are plenty of others, such as Xiaomi, Honor, Meizu, Oneplus, Vivo, Oppo, Nubia, ZTE and Realme.

Other manufacturers have production facilities spread across multiple countries, including China.  For example, Lenovo's phones are manufactured in the USA, Mexico, Brazil, Hungary, India, Japan and China (where the company is actually based).

Samsung are not made in China. All of their Chinese factories were closed 5 years ago.

Apple iPhones, of course, are mostly assembled in China.

Samsung is being disengenuous, they closed their own factories but still get some phones made to ODM in Chinese factories.
