And this is how the police react when their stupidity is pointed out:

"West Midlands Police said it was ‘common practice’ to take more than one custody image of a suspect if that person had ‘some kind of accessory’ on their face, such as glasses."

So now, covering your face entirely apart from a slit for your eyes (in the style practiced by bank robbers and street muggers) is viewed in the same light as wearing a pair of glasses. Priceless!

TTT  going back some years now to when I and another teacher took our (very well-behaved dogs on a walking outing with upils (100% Muslim) the children were, at first, terrified of them and asked it we knew the parents of the dogs.  On being assured of that they gradually relaxed and all was well - the kids fighting to be allowed to hold the leads by the end of the day.

Dogs are held to be evil by many Muslims.

It was a new campaign by Dundee police and it featured a puppy sitting in a police officer’s hat.

It “triggered anger” amongst the Muslim community because Islamic teaching warns them against contact with dogs because they are seen as “impure”. Some shopkeepers refused to display the posters and Councillor Mohammed [who else?] Asif suggested the campaign was a waste of resources.

Tayside police issued a statement saying they did not consult their “diversity adviser” before launching the campaign and apologised for any offence caused.

This country is getting more and more ridiculous!!! (Will I get a jail term for saying that?)  Why do we have to allow other cultures to not abide by our rules when we take it for granted we must abide by rules when in other countries?  I have always thought it wrong that we must wear crash helmets but THEY can wear turbans and, on the score of crash helmets we can't wear them in shops to hide our identity when THEY can go in in complete disguise?!!!  Rant over.

No. I’d say instead that followers of Islam are showing disrespect for the culture and customs of this country.

Its institutions should not be expected to be aware of, let alone pander to the foibles of every lunatic religion that unfortunately has been allowed to proliferate within these shores.  

Keeping a dog as a pet and using them as working animals is a perfectly normal part of life in the UK. There are about thirteen million of them. If Muslims don’t like them or are prohibited from interacting with them by order of their religion, that is there problem, not that of everybody else.
