AB users names

How can an AB user be allowed to use the name **** 234 ? This is the **** it scenario allover again, if it is starred out in the reply box why can it be used to register? (Check out Music)

Many moons ago there was a furore over the filtering system making a mockery of such terms as Weight Watchers and a certain town in North Lincolnshire famous for its steelworks. Back in the day, we were able to change usernames without any problem and I managed to register as scunthorpe which proved a point of sorts, though I didn't use it for long.
I wonder if anyone's registered as Gropec**t since it seems to be permissible if AB Ed's Blog is anything to go by...

a very fair question dot - somehow the censor robots don't seem to pay the attention to names that they do to posts, which rather defeats the object of the exercise. I look forward to AB Ed's answer with interest.

lol at Netti, dont worry I was here for a year before I realised that the catagories were in alphabetical order! I kid you not, I used to look up and down the list trying to find whatever catagory I was looking for lol
