PLEASE can we have Chatterbank back- or something?? I am so fed up with wading through meaningless insipid chat "questions". This is not what AB is. It is being dumbed down. People obviously need to have a chat outlet- so let them! At least that way the normal AB will get back to standard again, with interesting and genuine questions.

I agree with you Scarlett. But is it really necessary for that chat outlet to be on AB?

MSN is good for chat. I would imagine most of the chatterers on here have each other's MSN addresses.

I think they do Katiebee - I'm never quite sure why they come on AB to talk when they can actually do it much more directly - especially since some of the chat is about the other methods of communication and websites they use. There's probably some reason I haven't quite grasped.

The good news is it's almost all peaceable and good-humoured, which CB often wasn't, so Scarlett is wading through candyfloss instead of bile. That's got to be an improvement!.

jno - It's a mystery to me as well!

I would say, however, that a lot of the 'chat' has been rather near the knuckle, for a family site. That sort of 'chat' is best taken elsewhere.

Lovely weather we're having, eh? Finally, I say! In any case, yes, we have some more 'chatty' threads, but as long as they are 'nice' and they are not keeping people from posting genuine questions - which they are not - and because how we moderate at the moment (only during the day during the week) and most pop up overnight, you probably do get to see them before I do which can be annoying, I suppose, and thank you very much for reporting the more banal ones, they are removed when I get in the morning, but at the end of the day we are a community here on the ole AB and it is difficult to be all things to all people, but we try oh do we try and thank you very much for your patience, but we cannot bring ChatterBank back because it was a cesspit of bullying and abuse and really bad jokes.
