Where have all the pretties gone?

My computer has been at the doctors for a few weeks leaving me way behind the site news so I need some help please.
A few minutes ago I tried to highlight a link...which didn't want to be highlighted. The coloured fonts have gone along with the bold and italics - so what do we do?
Have we gone back to the dark days again of the dreaded tag thingies? If so I will need a Masterclass from QM again.

Thank you everyone. Yes Vinny darling, age has finally caught up and I belong in 'The Home For The Bewildered'. By the way why have you and dotty turned green again - or shouldn't I ask?

dotty and shaneystar - bless you both for your instructions but I never really got the hang of it first time around, perhaps a slug of Buckfast and a lot of practice - or should that be the other way round?

Rumour has it that the Osprey was closed, then pulled down because the locals couldn't resist a bit of fisticuffs from opening till closing time...... West Howe men tend to be a bit lively!! The Albion has calmed down quite a bit, but one of the local pubs was closed for a while when a customer died in mysterious circumstances......
