On line petition against two European parliaments
Anybody interested in supporting this online petition?
The online petition in support of the "one seat" campaign by Swedish MEP Cecilia Malmstrom to ditch the Strasbourg sessions of the European Parliament has already passed the million signatories mark with signatures from all countries across the European Union.
The parliamentary switch between Brussels and Strasbourg costs 135m a year. If you support this initiative you can sign the petition on www.oneseat.eu
THE FACTS::
Over one million people have signed the ww.oneseat.eu online petition to demand that the European parliament be based in Brussels.
The European parliament is spread over nine buildings in three cities: Luxembourg, Strasbourg and Brussels
All 732 MEPs have offices both in Strasbourg and Brussels
The cost is estimated to be 15 per cent of the parliament's budget the bill for Strasbourg plenary session accounts for the vast bulk
Estimates vary but 25 per cent of MEPs are thought not to attend Strasbourg, despite the key legislative votes there
Some 3500 people decamp 300 miles from Brussels to Strasbourg for week every month in ritual known as the "travelling circus"
Strasbourg is called Stressburg by many parliament staff
Strasbourg costs over 200 million a year
Another waste of our hard earned money.

I hear what you're saying Lonnie but there may be a difference here.
From a quick scout around it looks like the MEPs don't like this arangement much for example
Labour MEPs http://www.eplp.org.uk/newsitem.asp?thetitle=P ull%20out%20of%20Strasbourg%20say%20Labour%20M EPs&thedate=4/5/2006
Conservative MEPs

And I dare say it's not just the British
In that context a petition may provide additional ammunition to those already engaged in the action
