I know these are classed as them,but does anyone know anyone who has one?Or is everyone voting with Rotties in mind??

my dog Bingo has epilepsy, if he has an episode he could accidentally cause serious harm to anyone trying to calm him. he is a tri-colour mongrel.

Dot- would you class him as dangerous??
I walk my 2 on their leads but another owners dog hates boxers and tries to attack them everytime, i would class him as dangerous even though he's only attacking my dogs! I could get bitten if i tried to intervene! Is he therefore a dangerous dog?

I have a German Sheperd and he is as daft as a brush.
I think all dogs can be dangerous, be it a Pedigree or Mongrel.

Yes I class my poor baby as dangerous, he was born on 16th November 1995 and so he is an oldie, but i fear he may suffer badly soon because he is unlucky, i class him as dangerous because he is naturally afflicted with a condition that is unpredictable, i have a 7 year old grandson who has known Bingo all of those 7 years but i would NEVER allow bingo to be around my grandson unsupervised as i am uncertain as to how the epilepsy will affect Bingo's behavior.

Some Sections of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 cover all dogs so any dog can be a "Dangerous Dog."

"The dogs were subsequently destroyed. " - no they weren't.

They were prohibited from breeding and they have to wear muzzles in public but they were not destroyed.

WM - from the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 (c. 65), Section1 part 2 (d)

"no person shall allow such a dog of which he is the owner or of which he is for the time being in charge to be in a public place without being muzzled and kept on a lead"

The first part ofg the act mentions:
This section applies to�

(a) any dog of the type known as the pit bull terrier;

(b) any dog of the type known as the Japanese tosa; and

(c) any dog of any type designated for the purposes of this section by an order of the Secretary of State, being a type appearing to him to be bred for fighting or to have the characteristics of a type bred for that purpose.


You could not breed from, import, sell etc however you could keep existing dogs if you placed on the Index of Exempted Dogs which I understand to be a relatively simple application.
